‘Scented’ Facades

Adding fragrance to the interior

Smell is an important factor in how we perceive our surroundings, yet we do not often consider it as a factor for creating a pleasant environment.

‘Scented’ is a system that aims to overcome the monotone palette of smells in our daily lives. Its seven glass tubes are placed through the exterior wall of the building. The tubes are filled with a mixture of scented alcohol and water. As the sun heats up the liquid within, it evaporates, releasing the sent captured inside, no electricity needed. Each day of the week the tube corresponding with that day gets refilled with a different smell,  slightly altering the total palette in the space. 

This system could be fitted into hospitals, workspaces, or even at home, providing a slowly changing scent-scape, right under people’s noses.
